While Australians observed the 2010 Remembrance Day across the nation, Australian war heroes were honoured by The Queen of Australia at Buckingham Palace.
Victoria Cross recipients former Trooper now Corporal Mark Donaldson VC and Vietnam veteran Keith Payne VC and George Cross winner Michael Pratt GC, a former policeman, were among those at the reception.
Trooper Donaldson VC was honoured last year with an audience with Her Majesty.
“It's fantastic to meet (other winners) and hear their stories and what it was like back then and I was saying earlier on, everyone's on such an even keel,” Corporal Donaldson VC told the ABC.
According to The Australian, those receieved were from the Victoria Cross and George Cross Association, which is made up of surviving holders of the medals, which are given to those who display conspicuous bravery.
Earlier this week Prince Charles hosted a reunion of more than 20 VC and GC holders at St James' Palace. This was followed by a service at St Martin-in-the Field church in central London to remember past recipients.
