Those politicians and others who wanted the Royal Anthem banned at the Melbouren Commonwealth Games will be delighted to know that Anglican church leaders in Hong Kong have banned its use in an church service for The Queen’s 80th birthday , according the Daily Record of 21 April,2006.
The Rev John Chynchen, who will lead the service said the anthem had been banned because of "protocol. He will not refer to the monarch as the Queen during the service "because she is not the Queen here.”
