Wake-Up Call To Republican Politicians

Full marks to James Hutcheon of Cooma, whose letter to the Sunday Telegraph, published on 7 August 2005, should serve as a wake up call to those New South Wales politicians who are more concerned with creeping republicanism than with doing their jobs:

"Sir,

NSW is sliding into deficit, and Morris Iemma says he wants to eliminate government waste.

Right now, he can stop Bob Carr’s republican-driven removal of items pertaining to the monarchy from government buildings.

That includes taking down Crown coats of arms.

Yours etc."

In the meantime ACM is making representations to the new government concerning the mounting cost of keeping the Governor out of her home, a subject which will be considered at the National Conference.

Until next time,

David Flint
