In an earlier column , we noted that HRH The Princess Royal, Princess Anne will return to Australia for functions on Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 July, 2006. On Wednesday 12 July, 2006, in the role of the Royal President, Royal Yachting Association, Her Royal Highness will attend the Gipsy Moth Royal Gala Dinner and Australian Yachting Awards 2006 at Doltone House Restaurant, Jones Bay Wharf, Pyrmont Point, Sydney.
Our information is that anyone wanting to see the Princess should concentrate on the function the next day, Thursday, 13 July 2006. On that day, Her Royal Highness is scheduled to arrive by water between 9.10AM and 9.15 AM at the Australian National Maritime Museum, Darling Harbour in Sydney to attend the Gipsy Moth Exhibition. Her Royal Highness is scheduled to leave, again by water, at about 10.10AM.
The museum opens to the public at 9.30AM, and entry is free. There are also viewing points near the wharf outside the museum, which is close to the Pyrmont end of the Pyrmont Bridge. This Bridge, which is closed to traffic, is accessible from the Darling Harbour end of
Market Street. The museum can be easily seen from the right hand side of the bridge while walking to Pyrmont.
The nearest underground station is Town Hall – take the escalator up into the Galleries Victoria and follow the signs to the monorail. Then take the monorail to the Harbourside station which is near the Pyrmont end of the Pyrmont Bridge.
Alternatively, take the underground , suburban or country train to Central, and then join the light rail. This leaves from the light rail terminus whic is upstairs near the country trains terminus. Get off at Pyrmont Bay, or possibly Convention-ask the ticket seller-see the monorail and light rail map.
