2012 marks the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Accession to the Throne.
To commemorate this significant occasion, the NSW Government is pleased to partner with ClubsNSW to encourage clubs across the state to support the Diamond Jubilee by hosting a celebratory lunch or an alternative activity appropriate for, and meaningful to, their community.
This significant occasion provides a unique opportunity to celebrate the Queen’s 60 years as Monarch. By hosting a Diamond Jubilee themed event, local clubs can provide an environment for their community to gather with their neighbours and acknowledge the contributions The Queen has made as the Head of the Commonwealth over the past 60 years.
Official celebrations to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee in NSW will be held around The Queen’s Birthday long weekend (9 – 11 June, 2012). Clubs are encouraged to celebrate in a way that is meaningful to their community, and may include hosting a Queen’s Hat Parade, Tea Party, Royal Trivia session or a “Feast Fit for a Queen.” No matter how big or small, every celebration will contribute to the state-wide program of events.

How can I get involved?
If you are a Club, we encourage you to organise an event for your community and advise ClubsNSW of your celebrations. For further resources to assist you in hosting an event, see the Resources section on the right of this page.
If you are an organisation or community group, please contact your local Club to find out if your organisation can assist them in preparing an event for your local community. If they don't have any events planned, encourage them to host an event and offer your support and assistance if appropriate.
If you are an individual, please contact your local Club to find out what they are doing to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee. If they don't have any events planned, encourage them to host an event for your local community and offer your support and assistance if appropriate.
What else is being done to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee?
In addition to partnering with ClubsNSW, the NSW Government is also contributing to the Diamond Jubilee Pageant at Windsor Castle, United Kingdom on 10, 11 and 13 May 2012. Members of the NSW Mounted Police Force have been invited to perform at the Pageant, along with a group of Australian indigenous performers. It is a great honour for NSW to be invited to contribute to the celebration of Her Majesty’s 60 years of service, particularly in the year that the NSW Police Force celebrates its 150th anniversary.
Australia Post has also announced that they will be developing a Queen’s Birthday stamp focussing on the Diamond Jubilee, whilst the Royal Australian Mint will issue a number of Diamond Jubilee Coins to commemorate the anniversary.
