Federal government moves on Diamond Jubilee

The Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II is the forthcoming international celebration in 2012 marking the 60th anniversary of the accession of The Queen. More information may be found on the relevant section of this site.

The British and Canadian governments have announced details of celebrations in those countries. To see how far ahead of us the Canadians are , glance at this video.

ACM is asking that similar celebrations take place in Australia.  Above all there should be a Diamond Jubilee Medal to honour Australians in all fields such as service, the arts, sports, bravery and so on.

A petition to our governments and parliaments to honour The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012 may be signed here

Earlier this year we wrote to all federal, state, territory and opposition leaders calling on them to put in place appropriate celebrations.

Now the Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister, Sentor Kate Lundy, has been tasked with deciding on a Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medial for next year.

Those concerned can post a comment on the Senator's Facebook Wall or contact her otherwise concerning their views about the Diamond Jubilee. They can sign the petition here
