Gerry Adams to stand for election in the Republic

Sinn Fein president Gerry Adams has announced he will resign as a United Kingdom  politician and fight for election in the Republic of Ireland reported ITN News on 14 November 2010.

Gerry Adams famously intervened in the Australian republic referendum in 1999, calling on Australians to vote Yes. He was the only significant foreign voice in that campaign. See  Why republicans should have said no to Gerry Adams
