Most of you will already have received an invitation to the launch of the special display which ACM is organizing to mark the 50th anniversary of the first tour of Her Majesty the Queen to Australia in 1954. The display will be held at the Lower Town Hall, Sydney from April 2nd to April 4th. We would be extremely grateful if you have any display memorabilia, old newspapers or magazines, royal tour souvenirs or copies of photographs (some you have taken yourself or with you in them would be very welcome) or anything else we could use for the display. Please note that while we will take every care with your items and they will be under 24 hour security guard at the Town Hall (valuables will be in a lockable display case), because of the specific historical nature of the material we would not be able to arrange insurance cover for the items so we suggest where possible you send us copies or items you may have in duplicate.
We also need help to man the display stall itself over the weekend. The hours of opening are:
· Friday 2nd April 2004 :12 – 6 pm
· Saturday 3rd April 2004 : 10 – 6 pm
· Sunday 4th April 2004 : 10 – 5pm
If you can spare an hour or two please ring Pam Spun on (02) 9567 2152You will be helping to remote our cause and the profile of our wonderful sovereign in the Sydney community and to the many interstate coin collectors and dealers who will be attending this display. As you will be aware, ACM does not always find it easy to distribute its material at public events and this is such a wonderful opportunity for us to promote our constitutional monarch. Also if you" have any special skills such as display decorating or can donate red white and blue ribbon for decorating the display please let Pam know. If you have such special skills we could also use you to help set up the display on the Thursday (1st April) 5-7.30 pm and to dismantle it on Sunday 5-6.30pm.
If you would like any further information about the display please email or telephone Diana Melleuish on (02) 9251 8511 or [email protected] Please rally to our cause. We need your help.
