In an unusual alliance, a prominent member of the New South Parliament has joined with members of the Press Gallery in inviting Prince William and Catherine Middleton to visit Australia on their honeymoon.
Mr. Anthony Roberts, who represents Lane Cove in the Legislative Assembly and is a shadow minister, has given notice of the following motion—
That this House:
1. Congratulates his Royal Highness Prince William and Kate Middleton on their announced engagement.
2. Wishes them a long and happy life together.
3. Joins with Press Gallery members Heidi Tiltins, Gemma Jones, Louise Hall, Matt Wordsworth, Josh Murphy, Dom Cuschieri, Barclay Crawford and Angela Kamper in inviting the couple to visit Sydney and rural and regional New South Wales on their honeymoon.

Mr. Roberts was educated at Saint Ignatius College, Riverview and the University of Technology, Sydney where he was President of the Union.
He holds the rank of Captain is in the Australian Army Reserve. In 1998 Captain Roberts was deployed as part of the Australian Reserves to Bougainville as part of Operation Bel Isi.
This Operation required Australian forces to monitor a ceasefire on the island following years of civil unrest.
In 1996 he worked in the electorate office of the 26th Prime Minister, John Howard. After serving on Lane Cove Council where he was twice selected Mayor, Mr Roberts was elected to the Legislative Assembly in 2003.
Apart from his many other interest, Mr. Roberts has been a consistently strong supporter in the Assembly both of our constitutional system and the Australian Flag.
