Sixty two glorious years

Sixty two years ago, our much loved King, George VI, dies peacefully in his sleep. The Heiress Presumptive, the Princess Elizabeth was in Kenya on her way to Australia and New Zealand.  She returned to a grey and sombre London, Sir Winston Churchill and her ministers waiting at the airport.

The Accession Council met proclaiming her Queen Elizabeth II.
