ANZAC Day 2014

Anzac Day, the 25th April, is the national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand.

It is sacred to the memory of the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who fought at Gallipoli in Turkey during World War I and to all those who died and who served in military operations for their countries.

The ceremonies in Canberra today will take place in the presence of the second in line to the throne, Prince William and his wife, Catherine, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Meanwhile the third in line, baby Prince George will be at Yarralumla.

The Duke and Duchess were present, unannounced at the Dawn Service, joining the nation in honouring  the Australian and New Zealand veterans on this ANZAC Day, 2014.
