Field Marshal “Bill” Slim, 13th G-G

Field Marshal Sir William Joseph "Bill" Slim, 1st Viscount Slim was the 13th Governor-General of Australia (1953 to 1959), and among the most popular.

 A veteran of both wars he led the 14th "forgotten ''Army in the Burma campaign in the Second.

Seen by Australians as a great war hero, he had been severely wounded at Gallipoli, serving alongside Australians there and in the Middle East.
