Governor-General, the Head of State, sworn in

"Perhaps you watched the inauguration ceremony of the 44th President of the United States on Tuesday," writes Harold Schmauz on the Monarchist Alliance webpage.

"You are able to watch the swearing-in ceremony of the 25th Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia on YouTube," he continues.   "Her Excellency Quentin Bryce was sworn in at Parliament House, Canberra, on 5th September 2008."

"What neither could be seen on the ABC nor on commercial channels is here shown in its total length: Her Excellency swearing  the Oath of Allegiance to Her Majesty the Queen, Her Heirs and Successors according to law. The Oath of Allegiance is followed by the Oath of Office," he concludes.

As a matter of interest, note the way in which the Oaths are administered in Canberra. There was no need for the Chief Justice to recite or memorise them.
