Further to the comment here about the enormous interest taken by the Australian media in the Royal Wedding, it has just been announced that Australia’s highest rating breakfast programme will broadcast from London from Monday 25 to Friday 29 April.
The presenter, Alan Jones is the nation’s leading broadcaster. He was one of the very few media commentators to recommend a No vote in 1999, but opened his programme to both sides equally. This did not prevent the republican movement from complaining, so used were they to a supportive media.
It is clear that the judgement of the media is that this will be a significant event, and that Australians are most interested in the wedding.
